Field Trip: Mustache Stroking Festival

A tradition known as the “Mustache Stroking Festival” is thought to have started roughly 800 years ago, as a way of asking for good crops and the continuation of descendants.

The organizers, currently in charge of planning and carrying out festivals throughout the year, hand over these responsibilities to the new organizers during this ceremony. The current organizers are seated on the west side, while the new organizers are seated on the east side. Each time the current organizers stroke their amazing mustaches, the new organizers are required to drink a huge cup of sake.

This is a comical and strange event where the participants are wearing formal clothes and exaggerating the stroking of their handlebar mustaches.

The audience is encouraged to grow/wear a Mustache as well.
Feel free to invite friends.

And there is a chance to visit Little Edo, a picturesque town with well-preserved Edo buildings lining the waterways.
