Who we are : Tokyo International Friends & Events
Established in 2015, Tokyo International Friends & Events (TIFE) has grown into a dynamic and inclusive community that bridges the gap between expats and locals in Tokyo. With a mission to foster meaningful connections, TIFE provides a welcoming space where individuals from diverse backgrounds can meet, engage, and build lasting friendships.

We organize a wide range of events—language exchanges, parties, workshops, and more—so you can meet people from diverse backgrounds, share experiences, and learn about each other’s cultures.
Everyone is welcome: Expats, Japanese locals, students, tourists, and travelers.
Our Mission
TIFE was created to bridge the gap between the international community and local Japanese residents.
Many foreigners face challenges in making local connections, while many Japanese are eager to meet people from different cultures. TIFE provides a welcoming platform for meaningful interactions, helping everyone create genuine friendships.
Our goal is to foster international friendships by offering opportunities for both newcomers and long-term residents in Japan to connect with locals in a casual, inclusive environment. Whether it’s for cultural exchange, language practice, or simply making new friends, TIFE is a vibrant community where people from all walks of life can come together and build lasting relationships.
Why make Japanese friends?
Firstly, before we talk how to make Japanese friends, let’s discuss the advantages of doing so. Having Japanese friends can help you hone your Japanese language skills and gain a better understanding of Japanese culture. Additionally, Japanese people are incredibly friendly and nice, making them great companions.
What we do : Events
Our event circle is dedicated to fostering international exchange through a diverse range of activities. We provide opportunities for both tourists and foreign residents in Japan, like myself, to naturally connect and build meaningful relationships.
Weekly Activities:
- Tuesday: Kickboxing
- Wednesday: English Language Exchange
- Thursday: Yoga / Social Dance
- Friday: Imperial Palace Running / AR Sports
- Saturday: Spanish Conversation Class
In addition to our weekly events, we also host a large-scale monthly gathering with approximately 100 participants, offering even more opportunities to socialize and network.
We also organize seasonal events such as karaoke nights, Japanese-Chinese language exchange meetups, rafting trips, and more, ensuring that there’s always something exciting to look forward to.
