Stepping Into a World of Elegance
Finding this hidden house was already an adventure. Nestled in a quiet alley of Asakusa, the entrance is discreet, but once inside, the atmosphere changes completely—luxurious tatami rooms, soft lantern lighting, and the timeless beauty of traditional Japan.
The moment I took my seat, I was welcomed by elegantly dressed geishas who gracefully served me matcha and wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets). Their movements were mesmerizing—every step, every gesture filled with refinement and culture.
A Private Geisha Show Like No Other
As I sipped my matcha, the geisha performance began. The soft strumming of the shamisen (Japanese three-stringed instrument), the delicate sound of the fan opening, and the precise yet fluid dance movements—it was a living piece of history unfolding before my eyes.
Unlike big, commercial geisha shows, this experience was intimate. The geishas shared stories about their training, their art, and what life is like behind the scenes. It was a rare chance to have a genuine conversation with them, something you wouldn’t typically get in Kyoto’s Gion district.
Playing Traditional Geisha Games – And Losing Badly!
After the show, the fun really began! Guests are invited to play traditional Japanese party games with the geishas—something I definitely wasn’t prepared for. 😆
I confidently challenged them, thinking I had a chance… but let’s just say, I was completely outplayed! 😂 These women are masters of the game, and their playful teasing made the experience even more enjoyable.
