❓ FAQ: buying from Japan

How can I buy from a Japanese store that doesn't ship internationally?

Can I buy from Mercari Japan from overseas?

Mercari Japan sellers ship only within Japan, so overseas buyers need someone in Japan to buy and forward the item. Our Standard Service covers Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions, Yahoo!フリマ and Rakuma for US$15 per item plus item cost and shipping. Full guide: how to buy from Mercari Japan from overseas.

How much does Tokyo Buy For You cost?

Service fees: US$10 per item from online stores (Amazon Japan, Rakuten, ZOZOTOWN), US$15 per item from flea markets and auctions (Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions), and US$50 per hour for in-store shopping in Tokyo plus transport. Item price, Japanese domestic shipping and international shipping are added at cost in your quote.

Who pays customs duties and import taxes?

The recipient. Duties and import taxes are set by your country’s customs and are not included in our quote. Check your country’s import rules before ordering, especially for expensive items.

Which shipping methods do you use?

What items can't you ship?

Anything banned by Japan Post, the courier or your country’s customs: for example weapons and replica weapons, flammable items, many aerosols and perfumes, loose lithium batteries, fresh food and plants, and counterfeit goods. We check before quoting.

Can I cancel an order?

Yes: before we purchase the item, you get a full refund. Once an item is bought, the seller’s rules apply. Flea market and auction purchases in Japan are generally final unless the item is not as described.
